In July I started working again only 5 hour days, my baby was three months. I had pumped alot and had bottles saved up for her. I was also able to pump when I got home which usually just replaced what she ate that day. Recently though shes started eating wayyyyyyy more than I can pump out. Not only that but when I try to pump she sits there and screams and screams and screams if someone else is holding her and if shes sitting next to me she either fusses or keeps reaching at the pump and tries to play with it. I tried giving her rice cereal but she doesnt really seem to like it. We also tried formula and she wouldnt take it. Any other suggestions I may be able to try?

You are much better off pumping at work, as your body is constantly producing milk (actually more the more often you empty your breasts, so saving pumping for when you come home actually gives you less milk). That way you can feed your daughter straight away when you come home rather than have her watch you put all that lovely milk into a bottle. I'm pumping for my daughter at work and I don't think she'd take it too well if I didn't put her to the breast right away when I come home! Also, pump from both breasts at the same time, that tends to give me a bit more output. Don't stop pumping the moment the milk stopps flowing, you might have two or even three let-downs, so I generally keep going for 10-15 minutes. You could also express an extra ounce or so when she's in bed. There are other women here who have mentioned some herbal stuff to increase milk supply, maybe call your local La Leche League and ask them for advice. I wouldn't give solids before six months and don't give formula before you've tried pumping at work. I'd say she might really just be frustrated at not getting boob and mommy time after all those hours waiting for you. Good luck!
