Help, I cant gain weight and I keep loosing weight...

Does anyone here have trouble gaining ya thats right lol i said gaining weight while breast feeding? I cant seem to gain and i just loose and loose weight like crazy, I try ensure drinks and everything does ne one else have ne trouble w this and does ne one know how to help?

Yes, I had/have this issue. I'm still BF my 20 month old and I'm 16 weeks pregnant. I'm still a pound or so shy of my prepregnancy weight from my first. I was able to gain weight (before I go pregnant) by switching some simple things. I bought 2% milk instead of skim and I bought all other dairy products at full fat instead of light. I made sure I never skipped a meal and eat frequent snacks. I kept quick things handy like fruits, veggies, whole wheat crackers and cheese, whole wheat bagels. If adding more calories doesn't work then see your doctor to have your thyroid checked. I was able to gain 6 lbs back by adding more calories and only doing very light exercise like walking.

yes, weight has been an issue for me too. I'm 5'2" and only 90lbs! Granted I weighed only 98lbs when I got pregnant but I haven't weighed so little since I was 12. I went to my doctor who did blood work and everything is normal. I am also drinking ensure and I don't know what elso to do! Since my daughter is 15 mo. and only nurses 2x a day my husband is begging me to stop - he is worried about me. Anyways, I know for me its really easy to forget or not make time for it (eating). I mean who has time for breakfast when you need to leave by 7am! But I just wanted to say you are not alone and I do know being underweight is a lonely problem. I hope to see more helful posts too, since I'm obviously no help ;)

Janice, I as well forget to eat! My fiance yells at me all the time that I need to eat. Some days I go with out eating at all.... I wish I was loosing weight, but I'm not. Maybe because it's winter and I'm just sitting in our house...?

Have you seen your doctor? Could be a thyroid problem?

Try ground beef and rice. My mom is a twig and has some trouble keeping weight on, however she is not breastfeeding. She eats ground beef (NOT lean!) and rice... there are some hamburger helpers with rice. My mother also eats whole potatoes and I believe ground beef with the whole potatoes. Also try oatmeal, that will help with your milk supply as well if your having any difficulties with that.
I hope you figure out what is going on and keep in mind that you burn 500 calories... is it a day or per breast feeding...? Sorry, I can't remember exactly, but just eat all day if you have to. Make sure to eat a balanced meal for baby.

i wish i had that problem! my husband deployed a month and a half after our son was born and i got super depressed and ate a ton of food and gained more weight than when i was pregnant!! terrrrrible! so my suggestion, eat lots of donuts! lol it worked on me! oh and everytime i breastfed my son i pretty much ate a peanut butter and jelly sandwich because i was just starving the second he started eating!
