Help!! We have thrush!!

I'm looking for some help, my 6 mo old has gotten thrush 3 times in the last 3 months, the 2nd time was after antibiotics so that time I understand, but the 1st time and this time it has came out of nowhere, completely unexpected. Am I doing something wrong?? I'm getting very discouraged, I don't want to stop breastfeeding, but if I have to keep dealing with thrush every month or two then I'm done...

sorry just saw the name of the purple medicine that worked for us, it's Gentian violet . it works!! careful it stains everything.

I had thrush when breastfeeding both of my children. My son had it really bad and it wouldn't clear up, he had it for about a month even with anti. finially the doctor gave us some bright purple medicine that I rub in his mouth and on my nipples. It did stain if it got on anything and the color stayed on me and him even after washing but it worked. I can not remember the name of the stuff but I am sure the doctor or others on here know what it is. People have told me only bottle fed babies get it for dirty bottles , but I know there are many ways they get it. if they use a pacifier you have to sterilize that every day along with anything else that goes in there mouth to clear it up and prevent it again. You also have to wash your nipples after and before each feeding, which was hard for me to do at night since my son slept with me and breast stayed out for easy access for him.I would sleep and he would just find it and start nursing as he wanted. Since I was half a sleep throughout the night when he nursed several times I would not get up to wash them off, which could be why it took longer to clear up. hope this helps.

To avoid thrush altogether give your baby and yourself a dose of probiotics daily. This will ensure that the good bacteria that keeps yeast away stays in your bodies. Begin ASAP. There are probiotics specially made for infants and are 100% natural and safe.

As of now to get rid of the thrush apply gingian violet to your nipples and babies mouth twice a day for up to four days. Skip a day and do it for another four days. This will get rid of the thrush you have now. The doctors treatments are not as effective at treating thrush. Ginigian violet is what they used to use until a pharmaceutical company decided to make something less effeictive that they could make money off of. It's a pitty that a lof of women have forgotten about it. It works wonders!
