Nurse her for a few minutes. My daughter had the same thing, and a couple of minutes on the boob used to do the trick most of the time.

Gripe Water is the best. In SECONDS they are gone.

stick your finger in sugar and then put it in her mouth...it works so FAST! I only do it when her hiccups bother her though. Not all the time (because it is sugar).

I use gripe water or put them back on the boob. Use the gripe water with no alcohol. The hiccups don't bother them it probably bothers you more. My son sleeps with the hiccups and he is fine. I can hear them sometimes in the monitor and he is sound asleep.

I found/find that hiccups occur when bubs swallow their own vomit. It sounds terrible, but whether it's because they haven't gotten upright quick enough to bring up the excess, or if they are a little tired &/or over stimulated, they will occassionaly just re-swallow it.

I found that the gulp reflex seems to quash the hiccups, so if you can get her take in a little more liquid, it always seems to work. Whether that's a little more breastmilk or a little steralised water. either will do the trick.

(I started a little water from around 2 weeks old. It was only a small amount once or twice a week so didn't cause any nipple confusion. She now drinks well from a bottle & cup @ 7 months when she needs too)

Hope this helps.

Hiccups are normal in new babies, they hiccup in the womb to help prepare and exercise their lungs. Your baby will outgrow them, its a perfectly normal thing.

Gripe water has baking soda as well as anise seed oil and dill weed oil. It smells like dill pickles. The baking soda is the main thing that helps get rid of the hiccups because it expands in the stomach. This is also why it's used to help with gas in babies, it forces the gas out one end or the other.

its made from herbs. The stuff that I have is different, its called "Tummy Soother" by Gentle Naturals (it has a picture of Pooh and Tigger on it) and its made from Chamomile and Ginger. But its pretty much the same as gripe water. It calms there stomach.

What is gripe water? Ayla gets the hiccups constantly.... they don't seem to bother her, but she seems to spit up more right after.... She is a month old today...

Totally normal. Ella used to get them at the end of every feed when she was a newborn. Now that she is almost a year, its not nearly as bed.

To get rid of hiccups in anybody you have to reset the epiglotis. Sucking works great to do this. I usually had Ella latch for a few minutes and it did the trick. Now that she is older she sometimes will drink water through a straw (I do that too),

Hiccups do stink, breastfeeding works and I gave my boy "tummy soothers" its another brand of herbal drops just like the gripe water, worked wonders when he was really getting irritated with the hiccups.

My baby had the hiccups everyday while she was in the womb so when she was born and had the hiccups it was not that big of a concern. But we still asked the doctor and she said it was normal and that they do grow out of it. Now at 4 months she hiccups a lot less.

My LO gets them too, and she's 3 months old. They do taper off with time, she only gets them maybe once a day now and they don't seem to bother her a whole lot. Gripe water does work, but like Sarah, I only did it if they were bothering her. In the beginning she wouldn't latch if she had them really bad, so she was cranky due to the hiccups and being hungry and unable to eat. Now she'll latch and once she starts drinking they go away.

Gripe water works great, every time. I only give it to my little one if the hiccups are starting to bother her.

You shouldn't be preventing hiccups. Trust that mother nature knows what she is doing and allow her diaphram to develope normally. Babys get in the hiccups in the womb also because its naturally and suppose to occur. Just enjoy your baby and don't sweat the small stuff.

Put her back on the boob for 2 minutes, that should do the trick.
