alot of people have suggested cabbage leaves and it works!  indian women only use this method to dry up milk, unless there are problems like abcesses. i lost my baby while i was still pregnant and had to give birth to him, i didnt expect to get any milk but there it was, 1day later filling up and up and up. my breasts were extremely sore and tender and my granny used to heat up a cabbage leaf for each breast every night and wrap a bandage around to keep it in place, after 3days the milk was almost gone. the only downside was the stink in the morning!

Often on this board there are people misguidedly trying to wean really early so I just wanted to understand why you're trying to get your milk to dry up and I'm hoping it's not one of those cases.

My Lo is is wean she is 100% on milk and had been! So no im not weaning to early. Thanks

There are pills if you go to the doctor that will dry you up plus you can bind them to decrease milk. Just don't express or they will keep on filling

Is your LO completely weaned? If so, and it has been 3 weeks- your milk should start to dry. Some women take longer than others. Make sure you are not pumping, and wear a tight fitting sports bra. Some doctors will tell you to actually bind your breasts with an Ace bandage. I would do that only as a last resort because it may clog your milk ducts.
If you start to feel engorged, that's where the chilled cabbage leaves come in- but it doesn't help dry up your milk, it just relieves some of the pain :)

I'd recommend talking to your midwife or other physician-type, they probably have a lot of advice for you as well. I've heard the "old wives' tales" about cabbage leaves, but I'm a bit too skeptical for those things ;-)

There is a lot of information on the internet about weaning and drying up your milk, too - check out this link for one perspective: http://www.breastfeedingbasics.com/html/...

Here's another one (more of a "how-to"): http://www.howtodothings.com/family-and-...

Good luck!

How long have u breastfeeding? Usually for breastfeeding mum just ne cut down the frequence and slowly it will stop. If not, putting cabbage leaves will help
