How long does your baby sleep at night?

My son is 7 months old, and was sleeping 7, 8, sometimes up to 10 hours straight until we started him on solids at 5 months. I am still breastfeeding in addition to the solids (no formula), and he wakes every 4 hours now. Is this normal, or is he not getting enough calories during the day to stay asleep at night?

thanks in advance for the help...

It could be a food reaction or it could just be that he's sensitive and wakes easily.

my 12 month old will sleep for four or five hours once she settles for the night and after that wakes to nurse every 1-3 hours with a total of 12-13 hours of sleep a night. i think an important thing to remember is that your baby's sleep cycles will change as they grow.. just because when baby slept x amount of hours at three months old doesn't mean it won't drastically decrease a month later. isabella's hours of sleep at one time is always waxing and waning.. i imagine a person's first few years of life is full of craziness all the time. i know when my life is full of craziness my sleep is affected also. eventually your child will get old enough to just conk out and sleep and sleep and sleep so deeply! :)

My baby will be 6 months old tomorrow. She has been on solids for about 5 weeks now. She nurses about 6 times during the day. We put her to bed around 9 pm and she will usually sleep for 4 hours and then needs to be nursed again. After that she is up every 2-4 hours to be nursed. I'm glad to hear that I am not the only one that is sleep deprived!

They become a lot more alert at this age so it may be a habit thing also. Maybe read my post To all sleep deprived mums, it may help.

Mine usually sleeps 10-12 hrs at night. She sometimes wakes up and I will nurse her and then let her go back to sleep.

My baby is 11 months and he sleeps on average 4 hours, wakes up then I have to rock him back to sleep for another maybe 3 hours. (and so on...) He has never slept through the night :( I wish I knew how to make him. I'm so tired of being tired.

Could just be a growth spurt, mine changes as she hits growth spurts, but the longest she ever goes is 4 hrs, she is 4 months old :)
