My daughter is 2 months old and when she starts to go to daycare she will be 3 months old! I am breastfeeding, with the exception that I give her one bottle a day with breastmilk in it to start getting her used to the bottle so she won't have a hard time eating at daycare. Anyways, how do I know how much breastmilk to send to daycare to last for about an 8-10 hour day?

Thanks Michelle! I guess I will just have to send more than needed the first day and see how much she uses! I already have a good amount saved up, so I will have to send some frozen with her too! And yes, it will be hard going back to work, but I only work three days a week, so it won't be too terrible!

I send extra--everyday is different for each tyke. If you have some saved up I just have daycare keep some in the freezer...It's so much easier than having them deal with poor screaming baby while they wait for you. So, maybe 5 or 6-4 oz bags, just for your peace of mind! Then, I just take them what I pumped that day as a "replacement" for what they used that day. My son will be 1 on August 20th and we now have a good strorage at home and daycare...I plan on breastfeeding as long as we both desire...he's my last baby, so I'm in no rush to end that part of my life. Good luck to you! I know returning to work is hard!!

I used to send my daughter with 16 oz. (4-4oz bottles - she would drink one every 2 hours) She used to drink all of it until she started solids and now she drinks about 10-12 oz. It's good in the fridge for 8 days (that is what the breast milk bags I use says and I've never had any problems). I like to keep an extra days worth of milk at daycare in case some gets spilled.

I don't know....I figured she eat anywhere from 3oz to 4oz at her nightime feeding, so I figured for an 8 hour day I would start off sending 4 - 4oz bottles; that would be enough for 4oz every 2 hours! And then if she don't drink all 4 bottles then I would take the last one home and use it that night so I don't waste any! I figured that might be enough for one day...I don't know...Does that sound right?

i would send about 2-4 oz bottles for every 2-4 hours..thats about how much she nurses right??i have the same question, my son is 9 months and starts next week..i dont now how many for him either...lol
