My son will be 1 on May 6. I am still nursing him sometimes 5 - 7 times a day. He does also take juice in a sippy cup and he does take my milk in a sippy cup when I'm not with him. I am a stay at home mom and really see no reason to stop even though he does it so often. Any opinions on what to do when he is a year. Does he need cows milk? I can ask his ped. all of this at out 1 year but just wondering what the crowds think here at circle of moms.

I plan to nurse until my son self weans, if it is when he's almost 3 then so be it. I don't care what others think of me. The AAP and WHO reccomend until age 2 and beyond :)

My daughter will be a year on the 9th. She nurses about the same number of times. I'm just following her lead. She's starting to enjoy solids more so I'm adding a third meal to her day. I think there are a couple feedings during the day that she doesn't care much about (the one between her breakfast and lunch solids). I will probably drop that one first and then see how she does for a few weeks. I'm not too worried about cow's milk. My daughter has had milk products like yogurt and cheese. I will give her cow's milk eventually I'm just not in any hurry because she's still nursing. I don't think there is an amount that's 'too much' at any age. Follow your baby's lead and make changes slowly.
