My almost 8 month old is a breastfed baby. I am just curious as to how much solid food I should be feeding her. I afraid I might be overfeeding her. Any ideas?

My daughter is also 8 months - this is what I give her:
breakfast: breast feed, baby cereal (about 2 - 3 tablespoons mixed with cooled boiled water)
mid-morning: breast feed
lunch: snack lunch such as scrambled eggs, toast, sandwich etc, a piece of fruit (like banana) or a yoghurt, water for a drink
afternoon tea: main meal - she'll eat whatever we've had the night before but mashed up and will normally have about 2 or 3 tablespoons, piece of fruit or yoghurt for pudding and water to drinnk
supper: breast feed
Hope this helps

Gerber has some good tips on when your baby isn't interested in anymore food for the rest of the feeding... If she's happy, interested and opening her mouth for the spoon, she's hungry. If she gets interested in other things in the room, cranky, squirmy, wont open her mouth or turns her head to the side then she's not interested.

I have a Sample Daily Feeding Schedule for Babies 8 Months Old: Upon Awakening -breast, Breakfast -three food servings and breast or cup, Lunch-three food servings and breast or cup, Supper- three food serving and breast or cup, Bedtime breast or bottle of water, plus one or two snacks, water, and diluted juice.
Fruits/Veggies servings should be 2-3 tbsp (Apple Sauce/Broccoli) you can easily finely puree your own homemade baby food. Grains/Cereals: servings should be 1-2 tblsp. Protein food:1tblsp before grinding-tofu ground nuts add to yogurt or cereal. Egg Yolk: (cooked)3-4 times per week. Dairy:serving is 1/2 cup yogurt, 1/4 cup cottage cheese or 1/2 oz grated bits of natural cheese. Hope this gives you some good ideas!

Just offer her breast first, and then food. She will do just fine.

My son used to eat 2 jars of baby food and 2 bowls of pablum everyday at this point along with 6 (8oz) bottles.. My daughter barely ate 1 jar and 1 bowl of pablum with her 6 (8oz) bottles.. I think every child is different and as long as she's hungry and not getting sick I would say feed her as much as she wants to eat. :) Best of Luck!
