My first and fifth babies were born via c-section, and I got my period back after 8 months and at 1 year, respectively. My other three were born vaginally, and I got my period back at about 8 months, 1 year, and 6 months, respectively. All were exclusively breastfed.

It varies with each woman. I had a c-section on 2-22 and exclusively breastfed my child, I had no sign of my period until October and it was not like my pre-pregnancy periods. I currently have the mirena in and was actually quite surprised of having it, but I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later?! :)

I have had c-sections with all three of my children. I also bf all three and did not start to have a period until 9 months after my two oldest stopped nursing. I am currently exclusively bf my 5 month old and have yet to have a period.

I had a c-section with my first and breastfed her until she was 14 months and then got my 1st period. Now with my second I also had a c-section and am breastfeeding as well and still have yet to receive one and don't expect to until he's done nursing and he's 12 wks old currently.

I had a c-section with my first (I don't think the delivery method, though, affects when your period will come back...) and after the initial 4 to 5 weeks of lochia or whatever they call it, then I didn't get my period until my son was 9 months old, and he was being exclusively breastfed (though with the addition of solids around 5-6 months...) Then I got preggo again 2 months later (on purpose) so those nasty cycles are gone again for a while! :)

As I understand it, you can get your period at any time. But if you are breastfeeding full-time, that will most likely hold it off for a while. You'll probably "leak" for a few weeks, then get your period back sometime around 6 months...but it depends on your breastfeeding schedule and probably a bunch of other hormonal things...
