how soon is it ok to give a bottle?

My son is 8 days old and exclusively breastfed. We have had no problems. He latches great and eats all the time. I breastfed my older son also. My first had a lot of trouble latching and ultimately required surgery (he was tongue tied). I waited 4 weeks to introduce a bottle (of expressed breast milk) to him. He then did fine going back and forth between the bottle and the breast - I am very proud to say that he never got formula (despite me returning to work when he was 8 weeks old and sometimes working 60+ hours/week). I have a couple of events coming up that it is mandatory that I attend. My infant son is not welcome at these events. One is 3 days away. He won't even be 2 weeks old yet... is that too soon to try a bottle? I really can't miss the event (it is only a few hours), but I really don't want to cause nipple confusion either. Anyone have experience with this?

Between 3-4 weeks old is a good time... if breastfeeding is well accomplished. Here is the link I found the information on. Maybe it will help more...

We introduced a bottle before we even left the hospital with my daughter. Since she was born she was given one bottle a day usually it was a middle of the night feed by my husband so that I could get some sleep. She is now 7 months old and I've been back to work since she was 4 months old, she goes back and forth between bottle and breast with no problems. I used playtex ventaire wide nipple bottles with both of my kids and never had a problem.
