Here is the international lactation consultant examiners site

You need to take a University course for Human lactation and breastfeeding and do the recomended clinical time. As well as some other university courses that the site will clarify for you. You may want to look into being a Le Leche League Leader instead as this is much easier to get into and just as informative.

I am not in Mich but I was also interested so I googled it and from what I read you have to be a nurse first. But I did hear about somthing called a lactation speacialist and I am still doing some reasearch in to that, so far it seems like you dont need to be a nurse for that.

Good luck.
