How to wean a 15 month without torture to both mom and baby?

My son is 15 months old and I am hoping to wean him soon. Once I cut back to 2 times a day, around 12 months, my supply slowed tremediously. If I pumped I think I would only get a couple drops. I do have a slight let down. But my breasts are smaller than ever, they still do produce milk but I often wonder is my son doing it for comfort or nutrition? There was a period where he was getting up in the middle of the night to nurse and we had stopped that. Now it has started again. He is nursing for almost an hour. (I try to get him to rock back to sleep or give him milk or water but he wants the breast) I am a working mother so it has been tough on me and then he doesn't wan tto get up in the morning and is a miserable bear when I have to wake him up to get ready for daycare.

He says the word "boobie" and lifts up my shirt, I know it is cute and all but I just feel like if I don't wean him soon, it will get real hard to wean him.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to wean in a non torturios way? It is hard enough to be away from my little guy during the day.

I just weaned my 18 month old who was only still nursing at night. I thought it was going to be impossible because he sleeps with me and has woken up multiple times throughout the night to nurse since he was born and nothing else would do when he wanted the boobies! But he had to get his 4 front teeth pulled because they were so deteriorated from the night nursing and his dentist said that it had to stop or he would need more pulled and filled! So I didi it that night that they pulled the teeth and it went surprisingly well!I would just kinda "play dead" (lol) when he woke up crying for it and after about 5-10 minutes he would fall back asleep!I wear a full coverage shirt so he can't get to them and have figured out that it's just the closeness of it he wants. He'll nestle up to any part of my bare skin he can get to (usually my arm) and sometimes I pat his but a little and he goes back to sleep. I think after the first couple nights he got the idea that he wasn't getting boobies if he woke up and every night gets better and better, the crying shorter and less times waking up. Actually last night was the first night since he was born that he slept through the whole night! I wish you luck!
