HUGE supply drop. Please help!

My 4 month old baby was gaining weight well up until a couple of weeks ago. She has only gained 2 oz in 2 weeks and it seems like over the weekend I have had a huge drop in supply. I'm pretty sure she just went through a big growth spurt (she is 4 months today) because she was more fussy and nursing very often. Now, she isn't nursing quite as often but my breasts seem less full than before. Does anyone know what could cause such a fast supply drop?

I agree that your body probably adjusted. I didn't adjust until 4 months as well. My daughter had a week where she didn't gain any weight. The next week she gained 10 oz. As long as baby isn't losing weight and she has plenty of wet diapers then don't worry about your supply. Keep nursing on demand. Good luck!

It's not necessarily a supply drop.. it could be your supply regulating itself. Just because they aren't engorged or feel as full doesn't mean you aren't making enough.. With my first supply regulated around 3 or 4 months.. with my second it was almost immediately.. I don't feel full until I go 6 or more hours without nursing/expressing milk..

Its possible that your body is adjusting to breastfeeding. Because both of you are more comfortable and better at it then you were 4 months ago, the process has smoothed out and your body is taking the cues it should be. If you are concerned about it, increase the amount of water you drink. You can also use a pump inbetween feedings or after your daughter is done with her current meal/snack. Your body has an amazing ability to produce what your daughter needs. as for being more fussy and nursing more often, it could be somewhat from what you are eating. My youngest two had very sensitive stomachs as infants. I had to have a major diet change. No wheat/gluton, dairy, spices, acidy or gasy foods. My diet was pretty limited to rice, corn, green beans, unseasoned meat, after about 6 weeks of this ( i was starting to go nuts) i slowly added new foods to what i was eating and monitoring how my sons reacted. It took about 3 months before i could eat what ever i wanted but it really helped them.
