Sometimes you can get a pulling sensation when the breast is empty. It's not really painful, but it is strange/uncofortable. It feels like a pulling through the entire breast. It may be time to switch sides.

It depends whether is sharp and painful or not. I have loads of milk (Im very lucky) and I thought it was the let down but as time went on it got worse. I spoke to my nurse about it and she said that what I was describing it sounded like I had thrush in the breast. There is a technical name for it but I can neither pronounce it or spell it, But thats basically what it is. She gave me a script for a cream and within a week it was fine. So talk to your doctor if it gets any worse. But hopefully it is the let down and it probably is.

Yeah I am pretty sure it is your milk letting down. I had it bad. And sometimes it would even be alittle painful. When you get ready to nurse notice it does it. And it will do it any time of the day as well. It will eventually go away or lighten up.

I would have to guess that it is called hyperactive lactation...which is wonderful! It just means that you are making a ton of milk and you are feeling it. Keep up the great work!

I also noticed during letdown I could feel it right up into my shoulders. Almost like an achy/tingly feeling. Feels a little weird but is normal I am told. I think the milk ducts go right up the chest to the shoulders... I think...

It may be your let down or your milk coming in depending on how old your baby is... what does it feel like?

Agree with all the above...I still nurse my 15 month old but dont get let-downs anymore...or atleast that i can feel. But I found it uncomfortable too during the first 6 months atleast.

It sounds like you are experiencing let down and it can often be described as a tingling sensation when the milk is being released from the ducts once your baby starts sucking. You can also have shooting pains when you refill after the baby has nursed.

hahah is it like tingling or pins and needles? It is probably your milk letting down. I believe your milk is stored in glands , then released when the baby starts sucking. good luck

Yup...it's amazing to me how the body senses the times your baby feeds. try to pay attention to the tingly feeling and if you feel it and then your nipples start to leak or even milk shoots out, then it's just a let down. If it hurts, regularly massage with a warm compress and see if that helps

if it feels like sand is being sucked out of your breasts or a piece of glass is right behind you nipple or it just burns/hurts after feedings... i would say thrush! but thats just from personal experience!

What does it feel like. It could be anything from the letdown to a yeast infection but it depends on what it actually feels like.

I get a strange feeling when my milk is coming in. hope this helps.

Well yeh could be letdown, but I get random slight shooting pains every now and then. Like maybe once every couple of weeks? Very random and not lasting any more than a few seconds and thats it. Not letdown. I don't know what its about.
Also, mastitis can have shooting pains in the breast.
If the weird feelings are associated with lumps or redness, go to a dr.

I have to agree with the other posts, sounds like your milk is letting down. I experience a tingling sensation. It was more intense for me right after my daughter was born. She is 6 months old now and the sensations seem to be milder now. If you are concerned you should speak with your doctor.

sometimes you can feel your milk letting down (coming in) more when you are not drinking enough water. that is perfectly normal though. Drink plenty of water and you probably wont notice it as much. It is very easy to get dehydrated while breastfeeding.

I sounds like let down. When your milk starts to make its way to the nipple. It happens when you are ready to feed or when you are feeding. also when your baby cries. Sometimes it can feel like a tickling and other times it feels like lightning and can hurt. If you are realy worried then talk to you baby's doctor or family doctor.

...When does it happen? What does it feel like? It might be the milk letting down.

Depends what the sensation is...when i feel "let down" or the release of milk, it feels like sharp tingles angled toward nipple. how long have you been BF?

What exactly does it feel like? Maybe it's the milk coming in?

I know when I'm breastfeeding my little girl I can feel the milk coming in. The feeling usually happens when it's time to feed too. It's kind of like an achy feeling.
