Yes! Pump or manually express. If you leave your breasts engorged you risk a plugged duct and mastitis. It's best to only reduce your milk production by an ounce every 2 or 3 days. Try pumping one less time then your son was eating. In a couple of days, cut another pumping. And so on until you're down to zero.

My hubby has been a help with a bit of understanding that it may be because you are still producing milk and in order to stop that production or if you couldn't breastfeed because of some medication, just different reasons all leading to the same conclusion, put some cabbage in the freezer and later put it on your breast 3 times a day until it stops or quiets hurting. I hope this was helpful, I wouldn't know just because I haven't been threw it yet, but he has a 7 year old son from a previous marriage and that is what she did in order to help.

you can pump the milk.. first day do it a couple of times then do it less and less everyday till your supply gets lower and lower, it should eventually dry up.. and u can still feed him the milk you pum
