yes and no. Breastfeeding triggers contractions in your uterus, so your uterus gets smaller, faster, when you breastfeed. Your skin and extra water and fat stores do NOT go away when you breastfeed. Breastfeeding burns 500 extra calories a day, so you need to intake 500 calories to help you produce milk. So, while breastfeeding may make you feel smaller initially, if you are taking care of yourself and feeding yourself so you produce enough milk, you will probably hit a wall at some point. Just take care of yourself, eat well, and after five or six weeks start some mild exercise. Give yourself at least 9 months to loose the weight you gained in 9 months of pregnancy. And don't expect your body to be exactly the same- some things may stay larger (your hip bones, for example, may not stay in the same place) and some things may get smaller (some people have smaller breasts after weaning their child).
