I'm Scared

We were tscared, I was told if I went full term my son would only be in the 4lb mark as I was tiny. At 38 weeks they measured him at 34 cm.....He was born 6 days later at 50.5cm and 6lb 1 oz...Baby could just be sitting in your back and or curled up really well. As an indication, Me at almost 39 weeks I was the same size as some friends at 25 weeks

i didn't show until 6 months, and than i still was small. only the last 3 weeks i got big. my girl wasn't that big with 6.7lbs but there is nothing wrong with small babies... this whole thing about your size and baby size is just such a typical doctor's thing to drive you nuts... every pregnancy and every baby are different. so this whole too big-too small thing is stupid. i wouldn't worry about it.

I usually measured about a week bigger, but with my 1st baby the doctors told me they thought he would be around 7 1/2-8 # and he was 9#3oz. , my husband and I are both smaller people..not real tall or anything, and all my kids have been over 9 lbs, my newest baby is now 6 1/2 months and he was 10# 5oz.. but is not measuring big on the charts they have for his age.. I just like to start them big, I guess :) But I wouldn't worry about how you measure and stuff..just enjoy being pregnant !!

Yes, the drs. are just estimating and they can be REALLY off on them. My mom was a labor & delivery nurse & got out of L&D b/c she hated women being told that their baby was huge & them induce and/or be told that they couldn't deliver naturally (& to have a c-sections) to have a small baby, or a baby that just wasn't ready to come out yet, etc.
Don't stress. Think about how big you are, and how big the daddy is. Small people usually have small children. I always measured 3 weeks small at my appointments, and I told them not even to tell me how 'big' they thought the baby was, i delivered 2 wks early and had a 6 13 oz. baby. She's still on the small side, but is perfectly healthy :-) Good luck, don't worry!!!

I am in the same boat as Michelle. My doctors told me I was measuring really big and even considered inducing me early. Good thing they didn't, because my baby was born two days after my due date and was 6 lbs. 12 ozs. My point is just that you go on eating healthy, drinking lots of water, getting exercise, and your little baby will come out perfect (just as she always was going to)! Good luck with everything!

They said the same to me, at 29 weeks i had the smallest bump ever! But are you tall? cause if you are thats proberly why, but if there worried you'll go for a growth scan so dont worry about it.. they worried me then i ended up having a 8lb 3oz baby!

with my first son, my doctor though he was going to be small, so imagine his surprise when he got stuck in my pelvic bone. And small doesn't mean that there is anything wrong with the baby, my friend had two full term baby girls who were each 5 lbs and totally healthy!

Don't worry doctors are often wrong about size the only way to be sure is an ultrasound and even if she is small she will gain quickly breastfeeding. My girlfriend had an 8.5 pound baby boy two months before I had my baby boy who was just under 7 pounds. My EBF baby is now 2 months old and 13.5 pounds and her formula fed baby is 4 months and 15 pounds. Even if your baby is small she will be just fine don't stress and even if your milk supply is low there is plenty of information here and everywhere online to help you, best of luck with your little one!

doctors only guess they can't really say til the baby comes, my doctor told me that my first son would be a small baby and he was one oz from 9 pounds, and my doctor told me my second son would be small and he was 7 pounds and 11 oz, so don't worry to much it's just a guess he's giving you and if the babys hb is normal and she's active they she's perfect

I always measured small for my due date and my daughter always measured small. She came on her due date at 7 lbs 2oz. She was just hiding some where I guess lol. Her head has also always been in the 10-20th percentiles so it's still small and that's why she measured small. Measuring by ultrasound and measuring your fundal height is not the most accurate way to measure. Try not to worry.

ya look at all these women on the show "i didn't know i was pregnant" and they deliver full size healthy babies... they must be in there somewhere right?

Often it is just an estimate and most doctors will own up to being wrong on baby size. I was told with my daughter she was going to be 8+ lb and she was 6lb 13oz, I was told my son was going to be small and he was 8lb 7oz...you are doing fine, I'm sure! You may just be carrying more inside like I did with my son. Hang in there!
