I think I have a clogged milk duct

On my right breast I have a tender lump from the top of my breast going down towards the nipple and it's narrow and long instead of round. I've fed my son a couple times on that side, because I figured maybe I was just full and was only feeling the fullness there, but it's still there. And now it's starting to hurt when I lay on my stomach. If it is a clogged duct, what do they do to fix it? It won't interfere with nursing will it? I have to call tomorrow morning to see my doctor.

Try triple lecithin anytime I have a blacked duct it cures it within hours!They sell it at gnc.

I swear by lecithin - 2 a day keeps chronic plugged ducts away.

Thanks ladies! I massaged the area, used a warm washcloth, and even got up a couple times during the night to pump on top of my son getting up twice a night to nurse. It was gone by morning!

Ugh. I had SEVERAL clogged duct episodes the first time I nursed. Boy, do they hurt!

Keep nursing on that side! In fact, you might want to pump as well. The idea is to unplug that blocked duct. If you don't unclog it, it could turn into mastitis, and you def don't want to go through that!

Try applying heat to it , a nice warm washcloth and then massage it , keep breastfeeding , it should work itself out if you keep doing that for at least 24 -48hrs , if that doesnt work , I would check with your OB , my lump started under my arm, and I got rid of it with in 24-48hrs by doing the recommended above! GOOD LUCK

When I got clogged ducts it was literally the entire duct that clogged. It felt like a line of hardness with lumps all the way along it. Like the others said. Nurse that side first every time until it clears. Point baby's nose at the clog. Use warm compresses before and during nursing and gently massage while nursing. Some moms find that laying the baby on the bed and leaning over them to nurse is helpful because gravity helps get the clog out. Hope it clears up soon!

Also rub/massage the lump while nursing on that side and try different nursing positions to help drain that area :)

most of the time they recommend breastfeeding on that side as often as possible and warm compresses and hand expression with presure on the clog. Good luck!
