my baby is seven months old and is breastfed. He started solids about a month ago, he has no allergies so far and he recieves an expressed bottle of breastmilk at about 9-9:30pm. I started the expressed bottle so I could go back to my casual evening job and I usually express in the morning. Lately it has been getting harder and harder to express that bottle, some days my milk just won't let down.

What I'm curious to know is once he is about 9 months old would it be ok to give him that one bottle as cows milk instead of expressed breast milk?

I think it would be better to get a can of formula. Babies aren't supposed to have straight cow's milk until about a year. If he was only a month or so away I would be more inclined to say yes, but formula would be a better option in my opinion. If you are worried about the cost, ask your pediatrician if they have any sample cans - mine always has some. I started mixing formula into my daughter's breastmilk around 7 months, since my freezer stash was almost gone and I just didn't have the ability to pump at work. By mixing the two I didn't give her straight bottle of formula until 10 months, and then she weaned herself. I started mixing cow's milk into the formula at just before a year so she would get used to the taste, and she gave up her bottle at 14 months.
