My doctor wants to put me on Reglan to help my milk supply. I have already tried More Milk Plus with Fenergreek and blessed thistle as well as several other suggestions from the lactation consultants with little success. I was reading the insert for my rReglan perscription and it said it's used primarily for stomach problems...My doctor said it might make me really sleepy or depressed and to stop taking it should that happen. I must say, I am now wondering if I should still take it at all and will it cause stomach problems??. Anyone have any experiences with it and does it work???

My MDs office also recommended I take Reglan for milk supply when I went back to work. Regaln is intended to be given to people who have gastrointestinal issues and increased milk supply is only a possible unintentional side effect. I ddn't want to take it so I stared look at other options. I first tried a tincture from motherlove but couldn't seem to take it consistently enough while at work because I had to mix it with something else to get it down. There is a great stre where I live that has great products so I tried the fenugreek they carry and it has been workign great! I noticed results in 24 hours and I am now weaning myself from the herb because my supply is back up. There is a website where you can get them: www.herblore.com. I used the fenugreek capsules.

I'm not sure what Mothers milk capsules are. The pills I took were just pure Fenugreek supplements. I purchased mine at GNC but any health food store should carry them.

My nursing consultant told me. I couldn't remember what she said so I looked it up for you.

(580-610 mg) 2-4 capsules, 3 times per day --- 6-12 capsules (total) per day

I took the max amount my nursing consultant recommended. Little funny warning though... you might smell like maple syrup. No big deal, it's just people around you might suddenly have a craving for french toast.

I have read about the horrible side effects. I just ordered some domperidone. It is not FDA approved in the states, but you can order it from Canada. It does not have the same side effects, but does the same job. Just about anything used for gastric problems will boost your milk supply. Something about upping the prolactin in your body.

Did you take Fenergreek in something other than the Mothers Milk capsules?? How do you find out if you are taking in the proper amount of Fenergreek to be effective?

Thank You for your help.

I suffered from depression while taking it. I didn't realize how bad I was until my husband told me he wanted me to see a Dr about it. I stopped taking the Reglan and about 4 days later I started to feel better.

My milk supply was great at first then I had a very high fever after passing a kidney stone and started to dry up. So as far as its effectiveness I didn't notice any big difference in my milk supply. I got more results from the Fenugreek once I was told that I had not been taking enough for it to be effective and began taking the proper dose. Even with that I never got my supply back to what it had been.
