Is cold breast milk ok?

I'm working with my 4 month old to try and get her used to the bottle (for the times we will be separated). Well earlier today she was chewing on a cold teething ring, it was about time to try a bottle so I got it out of the fridge. I don't know why but I let her chew on the nipple (I guess since it was cold?) and she like downed some cold milk.



Is cold breast milk ok for her to drink? What is the importance of warming it other than it being like its body temperature?

No worry, my son's taking cold bottle since he's two months old because of his teething, now he's 5and a half months, has 6teeth coming, still prefer cold milk. I'm pumping btw.

I'm pretty sure it's just the preference of your little one! If she takes it cold, go for it!

yes, cold breast milk is ok. my little guy gets all his breast milk in bottles and its either room temperature or cold. he actually seems to prefer it cold if we are out in hot weather, and when he's teething.

My understanding is that, besides infants, warming the milk is because babies tend to prefer it that way. Probably because it is similar to nursing. Especially by 4 months I think you'd be fine. You could always ask your ped. though, or maybe try to call a nurse or lactation consultant in your area.
