I have a cup every morning with my 6 week old and sometimes a soda in the afternoon. She doesn't seem to mind. I'm glad because since I got pregnant coffe has tasted better than ever!

I don't know how I would have survived this past year as a new mom without coffee! My son has never been affected by it, though. THANK THE COFFEE GODS.

I'm so glad you asked that question! I have been wondering the same thing since my
eight-month-old was born. I have been drinking a cup in the morning since his birth, and have recently upped it to two cups some days. He seems to do fine with it, but I've felt guilty about it anyway!

You can have some, just don't over do it. I was drinking too much caffeine and it really changed my baby's disposition. He normally is really easy going and happy. When I was drinking too much caffeine all he did was cry and wouldn't take naps longer than 30 minutes. It was really rough. Then I figured out it was the caffeine. I have cut it out completely for now but I will drink it on occasion.

Up to five cups a day, but make sure to count ALL sources of caffeine. Just pay attention when you start it and you'll be able to tell if your baby is affected. I drink several cups throughout the day and am nursing my 11-month-old. I did not start drinking coffee until she was 6 months, though, as it is harder for babies to process it before that age (see second link). Waiting until 6 months also encourages you to sleep when the baby sleeps!

Yes it is ok as long as your child tolerates it. Some babies react (get hyper) when the mom drinks something with caffeine. See this link for more info:

about 5oz is fine but not at night time time, because the baby gets all caffeine up and will have a hard time going to bed.
