Its my first time breastfeeding and wondering if it is safe for me to still feed my baby eventhough I had an allergic reaction to something I ate?

Its my first time breastfeeding and i was wondering if it is safe to still breastfeed even though I just had an allergic reaction to a certain food I ate throughout the day? Is it still safe for my baby? My parents told me it was safe because whatever gave me this allergic reaction could be possibly passed through my milk.
