This is a bit of a tough one.. i breast fed with my 2nd child [born in 2009] i fed with her for about 6months then stopped. i had a plugged duct, tried to relieve it and some how turned into a mastitis? well anyway long story short it lingered since then all the way up til now. i've taken anti biotics and thats all the docs would ever prescribe me. [it goes and comes] i know for a fact that the duct is probably totally dead? it almost feels like scar tissue. anyway i always put my baby to the left breast first and mainly try to feed from the left [ as it does not produce as much as the right ] but also ive noticed even though i feed alot thru the left, the milk seems to be coming in but only my right breast grows. also when the left breast does get alot of milk, the breast just feels weird? not like the right... can anyone help me? should i see a specialist? no one seems to be able to help me :( or maybe i'm the only one who's going thru this.. thanks anyway for any feed back

If you wear a bra with an underwire that could encourage plugged ducts.

Ok with my first babe and. Using I had clogged ducts at least once a month which all led to mastitis and then also thrush in my left breast. I almost needed emergency surgery. There could be an abcess in your breast. This is what happened to me. I have 4 kids now so here are a few things that helped me- #1 - drink more water and make sure u are eatin enough calories! Sounds stupid but it matters- 2- get a sock fill it with rice. Sprinkle it with water and heat it in the microwave for 1.5 mins till its hot and u can put it on ur breast comfortably. Use on breast over nipple and especially the area u are discussing. Do this for while no less than 15 mins. And reheat as needed. Then pump breast ( while still hot from pack) then immediately manually massag breast downward toward the nipple. And extract as much milk as u can. Then pump again. And continue with the warm pack. do this for a few days. Don't cause trama to existing milk ducts. But you should go to dr and get an ultrasound of ur breast. I worked mine out but they were planning on cutting my breast from armpit clear acress middle of nipple ---



Side note- gentian violet - solution - can be applied to nipples after each feed. It is a natural antibiotic an it helped my ducts by prob70%!!!!! Next look up online " all purpose nipple cream" there is a RX with I believe 3 things together one is antibiotic/ antifungle and something else. Apply after each feed. Ask ur dr to prescribe it. Print the info on it and ingredients. Mine did - make sure to keep breasts dry( pads). This is interesting. thanks for your response :) yea i think i will. also thats crazy because i had a guy nurse tell me that and actually i did try it and it did help.. but it didnt totally draw it all out. guess my doc and lactation consultant it is. thanks again! :D

I would see a lactation consultant, or even talk to you OB/gyn! I had a clogged duct once and although this sounds completely crazy I was told that wearing cabbage in my bra would help, and it did!!
