I recently had an infection in one breast. I was put on an antibiotic to take for 10 days and I just finished it on Monday. I am just concerned because the milk supply is still not what it was before it happened. I am just hoping I can get some advice on what I can do to help.

I would try starting feedings on that side for a couple days, and pumping tha one side a couple times a day when possible. I had the same thig happen.. but not due to infection.. my son just decided that he didn't care for one side for a while.. turned out he had an ear infection in one ear and it hurt to nurse on that sde.. or somethign like that... anyway, with some extra pumping on that side I was back to normal in about 3 days! Good luck!!

If you had mastitis caused by engorgement or a blocked duct that is probably why the supply is lower in that breast; the milk couldn't come out so the message sent to the milk glads was make less milk. You should be able to get the supply in that side back up by nursing freqnetly, starting feeds on that side, and massaging that breast while feeding/pumping or in the shower.

It is very common for a woman to notice once breast producing more milk than the other even under normal circumstances and it's not really a problem for most since you could actually feed your baby exclusively from one breast (in fact I have met two women who lost one breast to cancer and went on to successfully breastfeed thier babies with just one breast), so your overall supply shouldn't be too much of a problem. However I do know that one breast making more milk can make your chest a little lopsided. lol So here's hoping you get things evened out soon.
