I'm going back to work in 2 days and started taking Mother's Milk tea yesterday hoping to ward off any reduction in my milk supply. Anyone else used it? What were your experiences? Also, how long should you take it? I was reading online that you should only take for a few weeks at a time until your supply increases then take a break for a few weeks if you want to start again.

Some women also swear by eating lots of oatmeal. I never did this, but my sister did and said it was great. I got results using fenugreek capsules after starting birth control that was not supposed to affect my milk supply did- I discontinued the bc though. I got my SIL some of the Mother's Milk tea that's the Earth Angel or whatever brand and my cousin swore by Traditional Medicinals brand. I tried one cup of the Angel brand, just to see, and though my baby is 16 mos. I swear the next day my breasts felt alot fuller than they had the next day. But as far as how long, I have no idea. But here's some pumping tips I thought you might find helpful :-)
The thing with pumping is- the pump will never be as efficient at emptying the breast as the baby. Never. Some women have an abundance of milk and get very little pumping, and some women can get tons of milk. But since breastmilk is supply and demand, and the pump is going to 'demand' less, your supply might drop. The key here is when you are with your baby- feed more frequently than you have been doing so far. This increase in 'demand' will help maintain or even boost your supply.
Another thing is to plan every day before work nurse your baby (even if it's just a snack) at the very last minute you can- at the sitter/daycare. This will help baby stay fuller longer, and need less from the bottle while you're gone. Also keep in mind that she's going to probably take ALOT from the bottle. That's because bottles are instant- whereas she has to work a little to get your milk flowing. Try to get the lowest flow bottle nipple you can. Also plan on feeding her as soon as you pick her up- even if she's asleep. You don't want your body to get used to missing feedings. Also at work, if you miss a pump session for any reason, try to do it as soon as you can.
Another tip is to drink lots and lots of water. One more thing that I think is totally worth pointing out is that when you are with baby, pump one side while she nurses the other side and that will help alot as far as how much you can get out. And don't be afraid to pump right after she's nursed also. Good luck!

Teas are not very effective in increasing milk production due the way they are processed. A better source of galactogogues would be fenugreek/blessed thistle tinctures or capsules.
