My baby is 8 months and i think my breast milk is drying up. For the past few days she has been really fussy at the breast. She doesn't want to breastfeed for long sometimes 2,5 mins 8 being the most around 3-5 times a day. She does eat solids 3x a day but i try to breastfeed her before every feeding. She is also teething I don't if that has anything to do with it? I tried pumping and nothing came out just drops, is that a sign that i'm dried up?

Please help, Suggestions?? Thanks

If you eat too much sour and spacy foods, your baby might not like the taste of your milk. Fennel tea is good for your milk supply. Almond milk and Mother's Milk tea can help you too!

If you are worried and want to increase supply oatmeal and brewers yeast can help. Also my son does not really want anything when he is teething. Just keep them comfortable until those teeth cut. Once that happens they will be back to normal in no time

Totally normal!! Babies get distracted and are dealing with teething issues. Just keep offering!! Your supply is fine as long as you keep doing what you're doing... always nurse before she eats solids!

Another idea, try nursing just as she wakes up..it's a great time to catch her before she's too distracted and it'll help keep up your supply.

Pumping isn't a sign of your supply! Baby's at that age can take as little as a couple of minutes to feed & 3-5times a day is still ok. Some baby's might want to start weaning soon. Teething can interrupt their feeding & eating patterns.

Babies often have a growth spurt around that time. I had what I though were supply problems with both my babies around 7-8 months and my kids were NOT happy at the breast. I started taking fenugreek supplements daily and within 3 days my supply was met up to their demands. And I happily continued nursing till 20 months with my first and 30 months with my second :) good luck. (and mothers milk tea is good too)

i found that at around 8 months, my milk wasn't as evident as it was before - no more leaking, and nothing came out much when expressed. that being said, my son still nursed and seemed full. there are always reasons for fussiness, but i think maybe the absolute worst thing for a nursing mom is stress! as Celeste says, rely more on the diapers than on how the supply looks:) keep it up!

This sounds like a teething baby to me rather than a supply issue. Many many babies go on nursing strikes when teething. Other babies want to nurse more frequently and refuse solids.

Try giving your baby something very cold to suck or chew on right before nursing. I wouldn't recommend orajel as that can numb her up so much she can't nurse. I give my LO teething tablets when she's teething and they really seem to help. And on really bad teething days I also give tylenol.

There is also a tea called Mothers Milk that can help the quality/quanity of your milk. and health food store have good options if you are still concerned with it.

None of what you posted has anything to do with supply. Pump output isn't indicative of supply. Average output is 1/2 to 2 oz *total*. Plus it's pretty normal for output to decrease over time. Is she getting enough diapers? If she's getting 4-5, supply is fine!

And yes, teething can definitely be the culprit.
