Well I'm 23weeks pregnant and am breastfeeding my 21month old son Eric.
I was an a cup pre pregnancy with Eric, grew to a b on the birth control pill, then got to a c in my pregnancy.
Engorgement brought me to a dd but settled at a d eventually.
By the time I conceived this girl I was back to a c, and now I think I'm more like a b!
Wow it's so weird cuz traditionally you gain cup sizes in pregnancy but I'm losing sizes!
Well, I still am making milk, not as much as I was for sure, but some still.
Anyways, I'm interested to see what size I'll have by delivery, and after!
I hope matt isn't too dissapointed with the size, but hey, he is just happy to have boob access, he doesn't complain :)
Sure is weird how much they fluctuate tho, anyone else have these ups and downs?

Yeah I'm counting on Eric gaining some weight after Fia is born cuz he has been the same weight since 18 months! But he is growing height so I'm not worried, but I just know once I have lots of milk he will be gaining weight! And I heard babies who have an older sibling tandem feed
Ng tend to not lose weight after birth because the milk comes in sooner with both kids drinking the colostrum, so that's a bonus too!

I honestly don't remember my cup sizes throughout my tandem nursing time. I know when I got to be 8-9 months it was just getting uncomfortable to find a position to nurse my 2 1/2 yr old. I did find it interesting that my older son gained 5 lbs in the first 2 months after my 2nd son was bon! He was so happy to get sloppy seconds! He also weaned after his little brother at 3 1/2! His brother was a biter at 9 months. I'm now pregnant with my fourth and I'd swear my 6 yr old will want to tap in when I deliver next month. Good luck!

I went down too, as when I got pregnant I was also still feeding my little girl. As her feeds because to decrease, so did my size. When she stopped altogether when I was about 3 months pregnant, they went quite small again. Now I am 6 months and they are increasing in size again. I think the size loss due to decreasing feeds will be greater than the gain due to pregnancy, which is probably why you are noticing them getting smaller. At the end they will get bigger again, and then when your milk comes back in for the new baby then they will get bigger still.

Boob size changes are totally normal. I am nursing once a day, very little now, and I have lost a size. I was a C after my second and now I think I am almost an A. I believe once I stop nursing altogether I will decrease again, but then my body will regulate itself and I should increase a bit. (this is what I was told, and what I hope is true, LOL). So don't worry. It is normal for boobs to change size.

Shaun a,sounds just like my pattern! Ya they are pretty droopy, and lopsided, and stretch marks too.
But they work! I'm proud my body is able to make milk and nourish my son, even if I don't look like a sex model :)
I just remind myself, boobs are for feeding your kids, not for looking pretty for your husband! But honestly my husband still gets all googly eyed when he gets boob time! He doesn't see the 'imperfections' I see, he just loves my boobs!

Nice to know!did you get colostrum in at 30weeks? Maybe that's when the growth happens again.
Are you tandem feeding now?

Oh I thought that only happened to me. My boobs shrunk so much while nursing my son during this last pregnancy. But by the time I was about 30 weeks they grew again. Now 6 days after delivery they are huge again.

I started out a 34B, during pregnancy and engorgement I got up to a 36C, and now I'm about a 36B. I didn't realize that when you tandem feed or even just after bf multiple children, your breasts fluctuate so much! I'm now curious to see what happens when I become pregnant again and begin bf my second!lol thanks for the interesting eye opening:)

Pre-pregnancy I was a B cup, I shot up to a D during pregnancy, no idea what I was during engorgement, but after that settled I was a EE (that's my larger breast, my smaller one was more of a DD, VERY noticeable!) When my daughter started solids I started going down in size do a nice D. I got pregnant, lost my milk altogether and shot waaaay down to a B again and that's where I'm at now with only 6 weeks left of pregnancy! I don't really care how my breasts change, but it would be nice to NOT be a EE again, that was just hard on my back and they literally got in the way of things.

On a side note, to help reduce the visibility of different breast sizes, you can nurses more off of the smaller side than the larger side, this will increase milk supply to that breast and help it fill out more, at least, it worked for me to a point!

Mary, honestly I'm the same :) the sizes I said are for my smaller boob, lol I have a full cup size diff between boobs.

My hubby says he likes it cuz it's like having two womens boobs in one wife :) but I'm terrible self conscious about it, they have been diff sizes since before I got pregnant but I do feel the gap got bigger when I was huge, and now I'm smaller again they are reasonable in difference.

Plain and simple, I've looked everywhere online, asked my dr, asked bunch of friends and family and everything I find is that MOST women have one boob bigger then the other. Some it's just subtle, others it's a full cup size or more.

Often the nipple and areola is larger or diff shaped as well.

So yeah, it sucks cuz our society says this is a problem to be fixed, but honestly it's just how women are.

Will it go away? Idk, for me I think not cuz it's always been there, maybe you just didnt notice it before, but maybe you will go back to a less noticeable difference sometime.

Other then that just take pride in the fact that both breasts WORK! They do their job no matter if they are even or not, and honestly most men don't care :) especially the good guys

Laura, so glad you posted this! In the past 5 years with 2 pregnancies I have gone from a C to a large DD and am now having difficulty filling a B cup. I am sad that I have lost my nice boobs, but happy that I was able to breastfeed two healthy boys! I do think about having another, just so I can get my boobs back, haha.

Take care :)

oh my goodness, speaking of tandem nursing... my cousin just had twins and I watched her tandem nurse. It's the coolest thing ever! But her three year old always wants to crawl in her lap right in the middle while the twins are in the football position.

Oh my gosh, all I can say is that anyone that can tandem nurse is pretty much my hero. That's amazing stuff!!!!

I thought of another thing. After nursing my daughter, my breast are two different sizes. It drives me crazy, I hate it. I don't think my boyfriend minds because for him it's just like "Hey, your boobs are bigger" but for me I hate it. They might have been slightly different sizes before, but now it's horrible. Especially if they're engorged, the left is like, a DD when it's fully engorged and the right doesn't really get bigger than a C even when it's totally full, and it's weird because I nurse her evenly from both sides. Does anyone know if THAT'LL go away too?

Laura I have now breastfed during two pregnancies and had the same happen to me. I was settled at a D while nursing my first. I dropped back to a C during pregnancy with my second. While I was nursing him I was a DD. When I got pregnant again I dropped down to a D. I nursed him throughout my entire pregnancy and now have a one month old and my toddler (2 1/2). I still don't know exactly what size I need. My son upped the number of times he nursed during the day while I was pregnant and hasn't quite slowed down yet. During the day my toddler still wants to nurse almost everytime my daughter (the newborn) does. So my breasts are emptied during the day, but at night my toddler may only nurse once and not for very long when he does.I think my bra size should be somewhere are DD or maybe a little larger now. Hope that gives you a little peek into your future tandem nursing! I'm not wanting to wean my toddler, but I have to tell you it is very tiring nursing one or the other or both for most of the day. I am trying to work with my toddler to not nurse every time my baby does, but he still wants mommy to comfort him. Good luck and congrats on the baby girl! Love the name :)

I was a FF when I was 17, but due to scoliosis I had a breast reduction that brought me down to a C. Then I lost ten pounds in college and was a B (not that I was ever overweight to begin with). I was a C before I even realized I was pregnant. They got bigger overnight so I thought "My period ought to get here any day now" Hah! Then I got up to a DD during pregnancy. Was back to a FF during the engorgement phase (I looked like a pornstar). I was a DD for the first three months post partum. Now I'm a C/D and my daughter is 8 months and still breastfeeding. But I think my size decreased a bit when I started solids. I hope to stay where I am and not go back to a B.

Well Eric was only bf 7 times a day before my milk started going down so you might see her pick up pace too :)
4 times could turn into 9 times, never know. But then again you might not notice much dip since she isn't used to as much as Eric was. I hope to see colostrum soon, maybe there will be more of that for him, or at least more satisfying. I don't think there's any chance he will wean, unless I started refusing more, yes I am actually refusing him sometimes! Crazy to think he asks that much but swear he eats four nice sized meals a day and drinks a fair amount too. He's just a lover boy :)

Yeah. It sounds like the more you nurse the better when your supply is going down during pregnancy. I was reading "Adventures in Tandem Nursing" and she talked about how progesterone causes the alveoli to become permeable so they can't store milk like they used to. My daughter only nurses 3-4 times/day so my supply may be doomed if it does dwindle. Maybe I'll be one of the lucky ones that doesn't see a change (fingers crossed!).

Yeah, I'm excited that she's a girl! Her name is Fierna Juliet. We found out asap both times, I'm so weird about knowing, I just don't feel quite bonded until I can picture the baby, and call by name.
But that's just me I guess cuz almost all my friends stand firmly on the wait and see side :) Fierna is Irish for truth, Juliet means youthful.

And just for fun, I counted how many times Eric asked to bf,that I agreed to the past few days.
Yesterday it totaled to 12 times, and today it is at 12 and he isn't asleep yet so I guess once more is coming! *sigh* it's very tiring, but it's probably the only way I still have milk!

Lol! I feel like I went pretty much back to the B cup I was before I got pregnant when my daughter was around a year. During pregnancy I went up to a C then was a D while engorged. I can see why they would get smaller since you may not have as much milk. I'm sure they'll get bigger again when you get closer to your due date and you build back up your milk makin' tissue :). I hope mine don't get much smaller. I'm 12 weeks and haven't had supply issues yet. We'll see...

Off topic...you're having a girl!? Congrats! We're not finding out with this one, didn't with the first either. It's hard to wait, but really fun.
