My breastfed baby is constipated, i have thrush and all he wants to do is feed...

I am exclusively breastfeeding my almost 8 week old baby i have a serious case of thrush which i cant seem to get rid of, he is feeding almost hourly and now he is now constipated. I tried apple juice in water last week when he hadn't pooped in 5 days and it worked a charm, he done a tsunami of poo but its now been 3 days and he is very restless, constantly going red in the face while straining and he only seems to pass gas. I've also tried prune juice in water, tummy massage and leg bicycling and still nothing. Does anyone have any advice?

Breast fed babies can go up to ten days with out a bowel movement. Keep feeding him because the more he eats the better, and he will poop eventually just give it a chance. I wouldn't feed him juice either, his digestive system isn't fully developed yet so it will be hard on his system. And you should go to the Dr. to get rid of the thrush because you will give it to the baby if he doesn't already have it.

Breastfed babies don't get constipated. It just doesn't happen. The milk contains what they need so if they don't poop for a few days, then they are using everything in the milk because they are growing. You should definately stop giving juice of any kind because that is not good for him at all!

As far as the thrush... use gentian violet on your nipples and his mouth and start taking probiotics to help re-align your systems.

I don't know anything about the thrush, but I am doubtful that your baby is constipated. Exclusively breastfed babies can go quite awhile without pooping. It's normal for babies to go a week or more without pooping because breastmilk is so well-absorbed by the body. As long as the poo is soft and not hard little balls, it is NOT constipation. No need to give juice.. just breastmilk is fine.
