Liam just turned 3 months and ever since he was born his stomach never seemed to be as it should! If he doesnt make a poo before his bedtime at 20:00 he wakes up shortly afterwards with grunts and groanes! I can see he struggles and normally I 'help' him with the earbud trick up the bum! So every night before bedtime I 'help' him and then he sleeps for 8-10 hours straight! That always works but Im afraid of making his bowel 'lazy'. Was wondering if any other mammas was struggeling with the same prob! And does it get better? If he does make a poop on his own it doesnt go unnoticed (if you know what I mean)! Please help??? Ns. Breastfeeding only!!!

I didn't realize how much what I ate effected my daughter until I changed my diet. I had to stop drinking milk because it made her break out and I had to switch to soy and up the vitamin D. Anyway, try eating more fiber filled foods, my daughter made 3-4 BM a day after I got into the swing of eating right. Also, I noticed that oatmeal helps with milk production on TOP of a great source of fiber, but stray from the salt

Have you thought about putting baby on a probiotic? There is one called Biogaia that is liquid. You give them 5 drops a day (regardles of age) It takes about a week to really see a difference but it is more of a solution then a cover up of symptoms like gripewater ect...I used it on my lo when she was about 2 weeks and still use it if I feel she needs it. You can get it at most pharmacys (you need to ask the pharmacist as it is kept behind the counter in the fridge, but you dont need a perscription)

If you are strictly breast feeding it is completely normal for a baby not to poop for a couple days to a week!! Because the breast milk is so good for them that their body’s are absorbing all the nutrients and there fore not creating any waste to poop out. If this really bothers you message his lower belly and work his legs in a walking motion which will help his bowels as well you can get Baby Senna @ Winco my friends baby has constipation issues & she loves it. When the baby is a lil older like 5-6mo & still having constipation issues my pediatrician recommends prune juice. I highly suggest to not continue using the earbud trick but that's just my opinion!!! congragulations on ur baby!!

I had the exact same problem with my Taylor. Check out DiaperFreeBaby.org I found some awesome stuff on there about helping her go potty. we have been doing elimination communication for almost 2 months now and I can tell she appreciates it so much when I hold her little thighs cradled between my thighs and help her get into a good potty position. It sounds crazy at first, but it's amazing! She hasn't done a big poo in her diaper since i tryed the very first time ! Daddy and I can't believe it. We are so thankful we found that website. I first saw it on a clip for a documentary called 'my chemical baby'. Hope that helps!

If you havent already you should talk to your doctor about this, but my son's doctor says this is normal for breastfed babies. their BMs can be more difficult and less frequent than formula-fed babies. breast milk is a very efficient "food" so there is less "waste"

for a while my son, now 3 months, only pooped once a week and struggled a bit. i talked to our doctor and he said not to worry. now we have poopy diaper at least once a day.
