My daughter is 2 months and 1 week (7-23-09) she nurses on only one side at a time for about 10-15 min every 2-3 hours. It feels like i nurse her the same on both breasts but my right side is so much bigger and makes an excessive amount of milk compared to my left. Both breast make more milk than what my baby drinks and i have tried to feed her more on the left side to create more milk and so that my right wont create as much milk but it doesnt work. I dont know what to do! Any suggestions?

A very common 'problem',

Babies tend to have a side that they favour, my first favourd one side and the second favoured the other side, so over the two children i have 'balanced' out, pretty much.

The only thing that i can think of to try and 'balance out' is to try and encourage feeding on the other side.

You are still in the 'early days' of feeding and your breasts will slow down the production of milk to reflect the amount baby uses, the more that is used either by feeding or by expressing the more your body/breasts will make.

hope some of this helps.

For the milk supply is uneven..What if you don't pump? What do you do? Just feed her on the right side more?

I had that problem and it seem that she prefer the left more than the right so I just feed her more often from the right than the left until now they are both equal in milk supply.

I have the exact same problem! My right boob is like "super boob" and makes so much milk that when he's nursing on my left side, the right is leaking like crazy! I just nurse twice on the left for every once on the right. Personally pumping messes with my milk supply and makes me produce too much, so I try not to pump at all. But if pumping will increase your supply on the correct side, then go for it! Good luck!!

Its frusterating...I KNOW! I make way too much milk on the left side and what my right side produces doesn't even compare! Try this: When you feed on the right side, pump the left. When you feed on the left side, skip pumping the right. Continue to switch breasts when you feed...

Nurse Right - Pump Left

Nurse Left

Nurse Right - Pump Left

Nurse Left...etc

I don't think it will totally correct the problem..but I used a version of this method and my supply evened out a bit. Good luck!
