For the past few days my nipples have been really sore, to the point where it hurts to feed my son, I saw the lactation consultant on wed and the latch is good and of course that was the one day it stopped hurting as bad. Ive been using the lanolin cream does anyone have any other suggestions?

a friend of mine used nipple shields when it got too painfull- they're like little plastic domes with a hole in the end that you put over your nipple when breastfeeding, baby sucks on that and it takes presssure off the nipple. they totally saved her because she was about to give up. Sometimes they do just get a bit tender for no reasen, but it usually passes in a couple of days. i have heard that if you give baby a bottle or pacifier if can change the way they suck which might make it more painfull

I found if I pumped as well my nipples would be sore, but maybe the latch isnt quite right still

I have been having the same problem. My mother said she had the same issue, even with a good latch. My solution has been to pump the milk during the times I feel too sore to breastfeed or it seems that the baby is going to be aggressive at the particular feeding time (I find he is more gentle in the late night/morning hours or just after a nap). It has helped a lot in reducing the amount of pain, but it takes more time. Time you may not have. But that has been my way of handling it.

Are you pumping also? if you are, you may have the pump turned up too high. I found there was nothing more soothing than a bag of frozen veggies right on the boob...hey, its a visual and my hubby thought I was crazy but it worked for me. If it gets unbearable you can try a nipple shield (Targert sells them). I used them because I was having latch issues but it also helped protect my nipples as they were pretty raw. Good luck!
