Today is the third day that I haven't nursed my 13 month old. And although we spend all day together I miss her. About a month ago I was READY to ween her but decided to just let her do it on her own and she did. Now I'm kinda sad. Is this a common feeling?

Offer your breast frequently- don't wait for her to ask.  Try waking her to nurse, nursing when she's sleepy, nursing in a sling or in the bath.

My daughter went through this stage at almost the same age, and I was a bit freaked out; I wasn't ready to wean her! I did what the others suggested (offer it to her frequently, especially at bedtime and times when she always wanted it before) and she was nursing again within days (though she never did nurse as frequently as she had before, we got into a fairly regular schedule) She weaned when she was a few months beyond 2.

I agree with Michelle. A child who weans that young usually has because she has filled up on solids or has replaced nursing with something else. A nursing strike is a good possibility- teething, perhaps?

a 13 month old self weaning is unlikely .. chances are she's just having a nursing strike... self weaning usually doens't happen till at least the age of 2
