I was curious if anyone using nursing necklaces while breastfeeding. I was thinking of getting one, but I don't know what kind to get. I want to make sure it's safe for my baby. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have a couple that I also got from etsy, from Stones of Healing. My 6 week old is just srarting to notice it (my fave is a large turqoise ring hanging on a leather cord) and I much rather have her play with it, than pull on my hair. My two and three year old girls also like it, and they hold it and touch it when they are sitting on my lap. I think it's a sweet thing, and it's beautiful. They have beautiful things at Stones of Healing, and good customer service, too!

I have always wanted one! I had on a bead necklace today and my little lizzi sure enjoyed playing with it. So I don't think that it needs to be anything special just long enough for them to play with!

A nursing necklace is basically a necklace that baby can play with while nursing. It can provide extra stimulation for baby, extra interaction with mom, and less pulling, pinching, etc on the breast.
I, personally have only used some on a very limited basis, but only because my kids preferred to hold my hand and I kept forgetting to put the thing on.
To make sure it's safe for baby, use natural materials (wood, stone, etc), not glass, no paint, etc. Amber is an excellent material for nursing and teething necklaces.

I just got one from my sister in law for Christmas. Well it's a teething necklace. It is from smartmom.com. I have not worn it yet, but I think it is very cute!
