Thank you all for your help. I read the link you gave me, Chelsea, and there is a list of reasons for pain. I do not think it is thrush only because there are no other symptoms, but I am going to call the doc tomorrow anyway, this pain is terrible! She is pulling her head back more, and also pushing with her hand while pulling. She started making a clicking noise while nursing sometimes, too. I think maybe she is sliding down and sucking just on the nipple? Ill try to make sure she is continuing a good latch. thank you for your help. And that article was a great help.

it could be that she is just sucking harder. she may be going through a growth spurt and is hungrier than usual. mine hurt all over sometimes when my baby drinks a lot really fast.

my daughter is now 7 months and i have noticed ever since 6 months that mine have also been really sore, i think its because it seems that she is suckking harder and she is also starting to pull back her head while she is latched on so i guess depending on your daughters nursing habbits i think it might be pretty normal

My goodness I've had thrush and it hurts ALOT, and by the looks of your post it very well may be that. Both you and baby have to be treated. You should get it checked out soon. Though I suggest gentian violet(for the baby) instead of that other yellow/white crud they give you. You just get a one time pill or nipple cream, though I would ask for both because it sounds like you have it inside already.

It sounds like either a sloppy latch or thrush (yeast infection). Here is some info on what thrush is and how to treat it:
http://www.llli.org/FAQ/thrush.html
If it is a sloppy latch then it will be easier to deside if that's what it is. Has she changed her latch recently? Is she taking less in her mouth. Can you feel her teeth while nursing? This could be because of teething and is common in older babies. The solution to this is to continue to relatch until the deep latch is achieved. Playing with the positioning could also help.
I am assuming that this is thrush from your post.
