I have a 13 month old, for 5 days now, whenever I try to nurse, she bites- as soon as i try. She's teething, I know. I've tried everything. I've tried to nurse while she's asleep(ish), I've tried after Tylenol, after teething gel, when she's hungry, when she's not hungry, when she's sleepy, wide awake, etc. I don't think babies "self wean" so abruptly. I've resorted to pumping twice daily, but I only get out 1 oz at best, and am getting uncomfortable and quite sad. Please, any suggestion??

Like Lisa said you are doing everything right. My babe goes on a bit of a BFing strike when teething as well and I just feed her whatever I'm eating and offer the breast all the time eventually she just comes back and kicks into high gear. And will nurse a lot for several days. I had one child self wean completly at 11 months went straight to a cup and I have no idea why. She just didn't want the breast anymore and was totally into eating food. Keep trying and she'll come back around.

I would continue to offer. You've been doing all the right things, nursing at night, when baby just wakes, when she's not hungry...you can also try wearing her in a sling.

I agree with you, babies your daughter's age usually do not self-wean, and not that abruptly (this is supported in LLL's Mothering Your Nursing Toddler). You mention she's teething- that can cause a nursing strike.

Just keep at it- she'll come around. Try hand expression- sometimes the increased stimulation can help with supply.

Not all of this will apply to you since she's 13 months, but some will:
