Pooping issues!!

I had the same thing when I started cereal.  Rylee went a week without pooping.  Before cereal she was pooping at least once a day.  Here are a few things my doctor told me to do:

1 ounce of diluted apple juice - once a day, take her temperature rectally, sit in warm water, and then after a week use a glycerin suppository.  Luckily - she pooped before I had to use one.

had a similar situation with my son also three months. get a kids glycerol suppository and break it in half. insert gently into his rectum and hold it in place. as it starts to dissolve he will go. dont worry

I have had the same experience with all of mine.  The longest I've had one go was 13 days...when he finally pooped it went EVERYWHERE!! 

I have had all of the docs I have seen tell me that it is normal and to only worry if their belly gets hard and they are inconsolable.

Our baby did this as well. The Dr. said it is very common for breast fed babies.  She use to go several times a day when she was first born, but then started going about 8-10 days before having a bowel movement. Luckily this only lasted about two months, then she started going about every three days till she was started on solids. 

According to the research I have done, breast milk is pretty much all used up by the body when the baby drinks it. The leftovers are of a very thin consistency and in some babies it is not thick enough to trigger a bowel movement in them. So they have to build up enough to trigger a movement.  Waiting like this also make the BM thicker so its normal to have a thicker consistency.

It is completely normal for breastfed babies to go days without pooping. I've got  6 month old twins and they have both gone over a week without pooping. My little boy was usually every 4-5 days until they started solids.  Our longest stretch was 8 days (my girl), and she was fine! As long as when they finally do go, it is loose stool and easy to pass, then there is no problem. You don't need to give your baby anything but breastmilk!

We had the same problem with our little guy when he was around the same age.  Our doctor gave him a water enema and suggested that we could do the same if he seemed uncomfortable.  They're called FLEET brand and are over the counter at the drug store.  They are easy to use, but the doc definitely stressed that going for days without a BM is normal and perfectly fine, only use the FLEET if he seems really uncomfortable.  Good luck!

You can try glycerin suppositories, be careful because some babies can become dependent on them, but they can help if used right. You can eat more pooh friendly foods such as apple juice and yogurt as well. good luck

I went through the SAME thing! My daughter went 11 days without pooping. She was uncomfortable too. I went to the pediatrician, and she told me it was normal too. She said it is also colic, that makes it uncomfortable. She suggested I give her warm water, about 5oz daily. I put a little bit of corn syrup in the water too, so she will take it. It makes it sweet like breast milk. I make sure to give her the water after I feed her, so I know that she is getting full with milk and not water. Hope that helps!

I would go see another dr,i breastfeed my son and he will be 1 in 2 weeks and he poops everyday but since I started him on more solids he wasnt pooping easy anymore,(cause of the solids)I am not sure at what age you can start them on cause my son is 11 months old I gave him a bit of prunes and prune juice and it cleaned him right out and he was a happy baby again,maybe check it out on the internet.To me 5 days in a little long then its going to become hard and painful for him to pass it.
