My son is 10 days old today and has had a side preference since birth, he is latching and nursing both sides now although he still does better on the right than the left. I am hoping that he will eventualy nurse as well on the left, however my right breast seems tobe producing more than my left. It is more engorged at night / first thing in the am and it leaks more than the left. Is there anything I can to to equilze things or is this even a problem? Thanks!

My son is almost 4 months old and I have the same issue. Even when I pumped, I would consistently get 2x more on the left side- no matter the amounts. I generally begin nursing on whatever side feels the fullest to keep from getting engorged. Other than that I latch him to the more productive left side when he's hungry and the right side when he's needing comfort.

Try always starting him on the smaller side, then switching to the fuller side. your right produces more because it is stimulated more. you can also try pumping the left in between feedings to increase the supply.

my right breast was significantly smaller at 10 days pp, but has since caught up! good luck
