nursing tops. they keep everything covered nicely. most people don't even know I'm feeding. I put a blanket around the baby's back and pull it up a little behind the head. I then unhook my bra, get baby into position and in one quick move lift the top layer of the shirt and latch baby on. in just a few seconds all is covered and all anyone can see is my bunched up shirt resting on her face. Yeah, Some people probably know what I'm doing but they cant see it. same as if i had to ask where a nursing lounge is, or excuse myself to feed the baby. couple this with some confidence and nonchalance and all will be fine. And nothing screams breastfeeding quite like a hooter hider.

don't worry about what people think!! I always nursed in public and most people didn't even notice. I just got really good at it! I would alway wear loose v neck tops so I could pull it down and not have to expose my whole stomach and just use a blanket to cover yourself but not the babys face so they can still breath and not get too hot! I would nurse while walking in the mall and it just looked like I was holding a sleeping baby :)Practice at the house if it would make you more comfortable.

I agree with Heather, I've nursed in the car, fitting rooms, at the park, the library, the children's section of the bookstore. Our mall has a family restroom with a separate room with a couch for nursing. I've advised my friends to practice covered nursing at home occasionally. Moms can gain confidence, babies get used to being undercover. At the Christmas parade, my girl kept popping off to try and play peekaboo.

I usually feed in my car, fitting rooms are good too. However, If you are comfortable and confident feeding in public no one will even notice - just look for a quiet corner and have a nice big blanket or cover. I have also found that if I feed my son before he is absolutely hungry it makes less of a scene and draws less attention (I'm not struggling to get ready while he is screaming at me!)
