I have a 7 week old that just developed a rash on his face- cheeks, chin, neck and around his lips. Worried about the cause and how to prevent/ treat it. Looks like red dots all over, not raised and doesn't look like baby acne. Help? I'm exclusively breast feeding.

I would definitely check with the doctor - especially that young. It could just be heat rash, but it could also be an allergic reaction to something you are eating. The doctor will be able to tell which it is. She's a lot younger, but my older daughter also had a bad rash on her cheeks from about 4 months until 9 months when her top teeth finally came in. My whole family thought it was a sign of something horrible the doctor was missing and her cheeks were going to be horribly scarred, but the doctor told me it was a teething rash and was unconcerned and he was right. We found out later that she is also allergic to milk and develops a rash like what you describe whenever cow's milk touches her skin. Looking back I think the teething rash might not have been so bad had we figured that out earlier. The two rashes do look very different though, so a doctor should be able to help.

could be a heat rash, or it could be something else that is worse too, you may want to double check with the doctor too! A child that young you definately want it checked because you want to be sure its something that is nothing or heat rash and not a staph infection, most likely not a staph infection, but just think it's been hot, and there is moisture on your skin, his skin and the milk between the skin wouldn't help the moisture in the heat, probably heat rash the doctor can give you ways to help!

I think my little girl had the same thing. New babies can get all kinds of rashes, they are mostly all normal. If there are no other symptoms, he is probably fine.
You could try using some breast milk on his face, that might help the rash clear up quicker.
Unless it seems to be bothering him, don't worry. It should go away on it's own within a few weeks.
But, you should talk to your baby's doctor if you are very concerned and think it is serious.
