Is it safe to dye your hair while breast feeding??

I need a change - but is it safe to dye your hair while breastfeeding? Have any of you dyed your hair while breast feeding? I've googled if it was safe to dye your hair while breastfeeding - but I just want to be positive before I do the deed. Thanks for your input!

You can dye your hair while breastfeeding. You and your baby will be just fine. I'm breast feeding my 4 month old and have already colored twice. "They" say don't dye while your preggers because they just don't know how much of the chemicals are absorbed through the skin make there way to your baby and with babies not born yet, it's one of those safe rather than sorry measures. But your baby is strong now and it is safe to dye your hair while breastfeeding. Any trace amounts that may be absorbed have very little effect on you breast milk. So go for it!

I think that the main concern with whether or not it is safe to dye your hair while breastfeeding or pregnant is not necessarily if it is bad for baby, but how the hormones in your body react to the chemicals in the dye. If you have just had your baby you may want to wait for a month until your hormones dye down a little bit other than that, it is not harmful for the baby, just maybe your color(ex-the chemicals will react differently with the hormones and instead of a soft auburn you get burn orange)

I colored my hair every 6 weeks the entire time I was pregnant and have done it once now that my daughter was born. The color "took" just fine and she didn't seem to be bothered by it either. My hairdresser said that her dr said it was safe to dye your hair while breastfeeding.

I AM A HAIRDRESSER AND COLORED MY HAIR RIGHT THROUGH FROM PREGNANCY AND STILL WHILE I BREAST FEED. IF THERE WAS A PROBLEM THEY WOULDNT LET US STILL WORK WITH THE CHEMICALS WHILST PREGNANT AND BREASTFEEDING.

I highlighted mine through my pregnancy and completely dyed it once since my son was born 16 weeks ago.... I asked my specailists at Yale when I was preggers an they said it was safe to dye your hair during pregnancy as long as I didn't do it more than say 3 times during my pregnancy... as far as after, no issues... just don't have the baby near the chemicals while doing it!
