Does anyone else have scratches all over their breasts?! My little girl (5 1/2 mos.) will sometimes pinch and claw at my breasts and fuss while nursing! At first I thought it was my milk supply (because I don't pump much), or my slow let down, but I can easily hand express milk right out when she does this. I have come to the conclusion that she does this when she's just not that hungry. Has anyone else ran into this problem?

My boy sctatches and plays too, he likes to play with my necklace and pulls really hard sometimes, but I think it is definitely a comfort thing, kinda reminds me of a kitten pawing it's mums tummy when feeding!!...maybe you could wear a chunky beaded necklace for your baby to play with rather than scratch

My daughter started scratching/rubbing when she was a few months old. At first I thought she was stimulating my breast on her own and thought nature was a genius, now, I think it's a comfort thing. I make sure to keep her nails short!!

I think it's a comfort thing...My baby has started doing that aswell! I do the same thing Jenny does and I get him to hold on to the opposite thumb. He also will hold a soft blanket and fiddle with it while he nurses, then usually falls off to sleep. I think it's deifnitly a comfort thing.

Yeah, I hold my little girl's hand sometimes and it helps, and other times she just wants to fight with me I think! I started just laying her down in her crib when she does this and letting her calm herself down. The pediatrician said she's growing perfectly and since she has enough wet diapers I don't have to worry about the supply being a problem. It must just be their way of rebelling lol!

I know what you mean.  My son started doing this and I started holding my breast with the opposite hand so that my thumb is available for him to hold on to.  This has helped a great deal.  I don't know why he does it though.
