Sex while breastfeeding

The only way I could see it being painful is if ur boobs are full and they are kinda tender. But I also think that its fun when you can shoot milk across the room at ur man....so def don't skip out on sex, b/c you think it might hurt a little :)

I have honestly never had a problem with painful sex while breastfeeding and have never heard it. I just leave my nursing bra on so they are contained and sex is just as enjoyable as ever. It may become a problem if you took your bra off and allowed them to 'roam free' but other than that you should be fine. I have been breastfeeding for 11 months and have enjoyed a healthy sex life the whole time.

I found (and still find it as I am still breastfeeding my youngest) painful sex while breastfeeding if there isn't enough lubrication. Breastfeeding can cause your hormones to keep your vagina drier than normal. If you dont' give yourself enough "lube" there can be chaffing and that totally sucks.



As for the boobs, once your letdown calms down, the tenderness in them does too... at least in my case.



If you are still experiencing discomfort to the point of being painful, please call your ob about it.

Painful sex while breastfeeding has never been an issue with us. We're currently working on having the breasts be a functional and sexual object. I suppose I'm lucky b/c I don't leak, but that's probably b/c we tend to have The Sex after I've fed our daughter. I don't like them squished much--that's uncomfortable. I've heard breast milk can be used as a lubricant (I think that would be too awkward), but we use KY.

Breastfeeding is not interfering with our sex life, a part from sensitive nipples sometimes. If my baby sucks on my nipples every 2 hours, I don't really enjoy to have them stimulated. But, the rest is fun! ....when we find the time to do it :))))

For me, personally, it was with my second. Extremely uncomfortable and it was because my estrogen levels were so low that I developed lactational atrophic vaginitis. I used an estrogen cream for about a year until my estrogen levels increased to where it was no longer uncomfortable.

My OB explained to me that due to your hormone levels while nursing, your body may not lubricate as much as normal. He advised using a little KY is that's a problem for you.

I've never had that experience. I can see maybe in the beginning when you're engorged.. but after a few weeks/months when your supply regulates, it should be no different than before.

I never had it be painful to have sex while breastfeeding, but I definitely felt uncomfortable without a bra on and even having my husband 'playing around' with them let's say... they were for baby and baby only. lol.

Um... well I never and I mean never take my nursing bra off unless I am showering or changing clothes so they are always 'contained' during sex. I know that when our son was a newborn (14 months now) we just avoided positions that would 'squish' my chest because it was very uncomfortable at the time, now it's no big deal. And nursing pads are always helpful because you always run the risk of starting to leak milk and that is a romance killer (or a funny joke, depending, LOL)

iv never heard of painful sex while breastfeeding? it could be uncomfy if you tore or something during birth but i dont think breastfeeding has anything to do with it being sore? the only thing i thought was weird is when i would leak during haha

I have never thought it was uncomfortable to have sex when breastfeeding. The only time it was uncomfortable was the first few times after baby was born but that is normal.
