Hello!

For the past 2 days I am experiencing sharp shooting pains in my left breast after breastfeeding. The pain is only for a couple of seconds and sometimes will happen if I hold my baby and he's pressing against my nipple and only happens during the day. Neither of us have signs of thrush nor do I have symptoms of mastitis or a plugged duct. My son will be a year next week and he's still feeding anywhere from 4 to 5 times a day. He sleeps all night and I quit night pumping months ago so really sure it's not a plugged duct. Has anyone experienced this or can give me any reason this may be happening before I call my doctor? Any help or advice will be appreciated!!

Thank you in advance!

I had this with my right breast ( the preferred side) It lasted a couple of weeks. I thought the same..thrushmastitis, plugged duct. I was nursing one day when it happened and noticed it was a plugged duct after all..my boo had the jowl cheek strength and brought it to the surface..
I tried a warm bath after she helped me and the hole was healed a few days later... it may be helpful to take a bath as warm as you can stand it and massage..or hot rag the area...
it may also be your glands ramping up after baby gets its fill.. when mydaughter would fnish i would get streaking hot sharp light stabbing pains in both breasts. Hope this helps.

Thank you so much! I was thinking that could possibly be it since my son has started to wean himself. Right after I posted this, he has decided to go down to 2-3 times of breastfeeding a day! He turns one Friday and I was really thinking he was no where near weaning, but I guess he is. Makes me a little sad!

Thank you again and I will try to warm bath with massage!!!
