My son is 4 months old and has been EBF. In the past month I have had the flu and now I am sick with a bad cold. I have noticed a drastic drop in my supply in the past 2 weeks and even slower let-down. After the flu, I started pumping extra to try to increase my supply then I got sick again and I am so tired that by the time he goes to sleep at 9 I am ready for bed too! I am currently taking Fenugreek and Blessed Thistle, but am still having issues...I think that I am too exhausted! I probably had 6-0 or 70 oz in the freezer and am now down to about 30 left...I am afraid that I will get to the point that I won't have enough to feed him...I need some encouragement and advice please...will my supply increase back enough to get me through??

Sorry to hear that you are having issues with supply, but it is normal for this to happen with an illness and it will get better. It is mainly because you are tired and not drinking enough fluids. You have to watch as well that you are not taking any cough meds, or even some lozenges will cause your supply to decrease (eg Ricolla). Try to drink as much water as you can, continue to take the Fenugreek and Blessed thistle, you can ask your Dr for a perscription of Domperidone as well. Pump for at least 10 mins after each nursing session. But the best is to put baby to the breast as much as possible, co-sleep so that you can rest and baby can nurse. Try to rest and take care of yourself as much as possible!!!

EVERY time I've been sick my supply dropped. I never took anything but it always came back when I got better. I just continued to bf him. I'm sorry you're having problems. good luck!
