Sleep

My 3 1/2 month old was sleeping 5 to 7 hours a night - up until 2 weeks ago. Now she gets up 3 times a night, every 3 hours almost on the dot to nurse. She is exclusively breast fed and I am wondering if I should start giving her formula before bed to hopefully cut down on all the wakings? My son never did this - so I don't know how to fix it. Any help would be greatful!

I started giving my daughter a 4 oz bottle of formula right before bed (after I breast fed her) to get her to sllep longer. Now she goes down at 8pm and doesn't wake until 3-4am. And she only wakes once at night to feed, I love it.

Growth Spurt! Try bringing her to bed with you after her first waking and allowing her to nurse in bed. Continue to put her to bed in her own bed to start. As her growth spurt ends, she'll start sleeping longer stretches again on her own.

it is probably a growth spurt, they usually have one round three months and nurse like crazy for a bit then settle back into a routine

Unfortunately I don't have any advice as my son (13 weeks) has just started doing the same thing...he was consistently sleeping from 9pm - 3 am and then feeding every three hours but now he's up at midnight and then at 3 - like clockwork! I'm interested in learning along with you! Thanks for asking the question - know that you're not alone, at least!
