Success with Domperidone for increased milk production?

I just started taking Domperidone today and wanted to know if others have had success with it? My baby is 6 weeks old and has been breastfeeding, but my milk has recently started to decrease and I've been forced to supplement. I'm hoping this gets me back on track to stop any supplementing and produce enough to actually store milk.

None of what you mentioned means low supply. It sounds like your supply has regulated, which is what you want. As long as your baby is getting 6-8 diapers, your supply is fine!

"used to be able to pump in the mornings about 3 ounces out of each side, but lately maybe only 2 ounces at best when combined"

Pump output is NOT an indicator of supply. 2 oz is actually average output. You're actually on the high end of average. Average output is 1/2 to 2 oz TOTAL. Also, it's normal for pump output to decrease over time, because of supply regulation. This does NOT mean your supply is decreasing.

"Also, I never get that engorged feeling anymore"

That is GOOD. You DON'T want that engorged feeling. Engorged breasts actually will decrease production because baby isn't removing that milk.

"Lastly, I have friends who are packing away a ton of milk in the freezer and I can only prduce enough to feed my girl. "

If it makes you feel any better? I nursed twins and could never pump very much. I got maybe the average output..

" Oh and if I do give my sweet baby a formula bottle, she sucks it down very quickly which leads me to think she isn't getting enough food."

Nope. Read this link: It explains why babies will "guzzle" a bottle and why this DOES NOT mean low supply.

A couple of links I want you to look at:

From what you've posted, it doesn't sound like you have a supply issue. It sounds like your supply has regulated which is GOOD!

Also, check out the pinned thread about low supply at the top of the forum.

I used to be able to pump in the mornings about 3 ounces out of each side, but lately maybe only 2 ounces at best when combined. At a minimum I could pump in the morning before to have a few bottles when my husband got home from work. He would feed her and let me nap. Also, I never get that engorged feeling anymore. Lastly, I have friends who are packing away a ton of milk in the freezer and I can only prduce enough to feed my girl. Oh and if I do give my sweet baby a formula bottle, she sucks it down very quickly which leads me to think she isn't getting enough food.

I don't have any personal experience, but I have heard that it does work.

However, let's try to figure out what's going on first..
-How are you determining that your supply is decreasing?
