Thrush! It HURTS!

I agree, Gentin Violet. I am still breastfeeding my twins and had the same when they were about 8 weeks old i got thrush as well. i used that and the poor kiddies had purple mouths for about a week, but i never had thrush again. Also dont use anti-bacterial soap on your nipple. It kills the good bacteria and make sure your nipples are cleaned and air dried after a feed. wash all your bras in hot water and air dry that too. That should do the trick. if you use a paci for the baby, boil it instead of using a chemical sterilize which actually promotes the growth of thrush. Good luck and I hope it clears up quick.

Two words Gentian Violet. It's a deep dark purple liquid that is used to help heal scapes and burn but cures thrush. My mom told me this was the stuff everyone used in her day and it's still around but doctors push meds because they get perks from the Px companies. You can get it at your local pharmacy's like Walgreens, etc. Call the places first because they may not have it in stock and have to order it. Used a Qtip to apply it all over inside baby's cheeks and tongue. If breastfeeding, apply to nipples. This stuff stains, so make sure you are careful and don't have anything around you don't want stained. It is not harmful. It does not have side effects. It just wipes the yeast out. Sanitize everything the baby has put in their mouth like all toys, bottles, nipples, etc. by washing and then boiling. Some toys I couldn't boil, so I wiped them down with bleach. The immediate thing you can do is wipe your nipples and area off after every BF by using apple cider vinegar and do this after the Gentian Violet wears off. The vinegar kills the thrust. Also thrush is contagious, so wash your bras in bleach or very hot water to kill the thrush and change your BF pads a couple times a day. Good luck. After I found all this out, I was able to get rid of it within a few days. Oh and don't stop being careful and the vinegar treatment for at least a week. FYI the purple stain in the baby's mouth last for 24 hours. Good Luck. =)

I had it with my first child super bad. Try also airing out your breasts as much as you can. I was told to sleep topless & just put a good towel underneath me for all the leakage. I know they gave my son Nystatin for his yeast diaper rash that went along with the thrush, but they gave him something else for the actual thrush in his mouth. I really suggest you just go back to the doctor & tell him that the stuff he gave you isn't working & ask if there is some other meds. he can give you to try. I know for the rash part, there is other stuff. But yes, airing your breasts out will help a ton I promise.

i as well had this....it takes a while to go away...we went through two bottles...i found that limiting yeast from you diet and taking a qtip and wipe it out of your babies mouth...goodluck honey soooo sorry

I ran into this problem with my daughter almost a year ago... and after treating her with the medication they gave me and it never went away I got frustrated and just gave up...not long after, the thrush was gone. :-/ I don't know if your willing to try it, but it helped us. :) Good luck.
