Waking every 2 hours at night

My beautiful five month old daughter has created a habbit that I hope I can break! During the day I BF her every 3.5 - 4 hours with no problems. At night, however, she wakes and wants to feed every TWO hours! She sleeps between feeds at night, but for some reason snaps wide awake at around 4am and is so happy and ready for play. If I try to put her to bed or encourage her to go back to sleep she starts screaming a loud protest cry simply because she isn't tired. So how do I get my precious daughter to sleep longer at night (she used to only wake at 3am for a quick snack feed then off to sleep until 6:30am) and wake up for a play after 6am?

Hi My 10 month old wakes up 3 times a night and just wants a feed, I think they just sometimes need the comfort when they r breastfes because it's such a bonding thing to do. But if ur baby is not on solid food that may help. But try and rest when u can and make sure u have a good support network. I hope u get some rest

We're in a good routine now (finally!! lol). I don't have any issues feeding her at night apart from that I was feeding her once a night at 3am now it's worse than when she was a newborn. Here is my routine with her:
6am-ish: feed then play for approx 60-90mins
8am-ish:sleep 60-90mins
9:30-ish: feed then play for approx 2hrs
midday-ish: sleep approx 2-2.5hrs
2:30-ish: feed then play for approx 2hrs
4:30-ish: sleep for approx 30-45mins
6-ish: unsettled period bath to calm down and relax
7-ish: feed and start to settle for night
8:30-9pm-ish: bed for night
midnight: feed then puts self to sleep
2am-ish: feed then puts self to sleep
4-ish: wide awake ready to play!!
5-ish: sleep (and start the day again!)

I some how find time to take my eldest to preschool and run my house. My daughter is with me at all times during the day. I only leave her once a week to do the groceries then hubby gets some one on one with her. The only time we're apart is when she is asleep in her cot or I'm off doing the groceries. It's like we're almost glued to each other!! lol.

Sounds like what my niece is doing right now. Are you away during the day, at all? She could be reverse cycling, where she nurses more when she's around you. *Or* when my baby did this (I'm a stay at home mom) my mom, who's an IBCLC, told me something along the lines of 'most babies will go thru a period where they seem to prefer being up at night'.
If you don't already have a routine, try to get a good one in place, with a warm bath, soothing music, dim lights, no loud tv, radio, etc (extra good luck to you if you have other children...) and get her off to a good deep sleep. You could also try putting her 'down for the night' a little later, so she's not really sleeping longer, but sleeping later.
If all else fails, you could try co-sleeping when she gets in her wide awake mood, put her in the middle of the bed, with the lights out, still quiet etc, so she starts getting the idea that it's dark quiet time still...
Good luck!
